(Español) Los Encuentros Internacionales de Juventud de Cabueñes llevan 27 años reuniendo a jóvenes, instituciones, administración, y ciudadanos emprendedoras para debatir, reflexionar y elaborar un modelo de sociedad más justo y humanos.
The children’s Hip Hop workshop, led by young people from the Unemployed Workers Movement, is one of the autonomous cultural projects generated in the barrio. Although the government has criminalized the piqueteros, they continue to raise the flag of culture as a fundamental element for achieving social change. The rap group “Escuadron de Rimas” was instrumental in bringing this about.
The barrios of Caracas are the Bolivarian revolution’s most solid base, and where most of the socially-aware Hip Hop comes from. Inclusion policies have been fundamental in reducing the violence that is a legacy of past social apartheid policies, although barrios in the city’s hills are still suffering.
